STEEPING

Our variable steep system combines the proven steeping performance of a standard conical steep tank with the ability to efficiently run variable batch sizes, providing flexibility for your operation. This design integrates seamlessly with germination and kilning to protect your grain and set the stage for complete control of the process. Both open or closed-top tank designs are available.

Steep systems include the following:

  • Fully adjustable aeration system with integral wedge wire screen drain and CO2 extraction system
  • Automated steeping process including water and grain bed temperature control
  • Optional unique adjustable overflow system (allows for optimization of variable batch sizes)
  • Optional cooling system for high ambient temperature locations

GERMINATION AND KILN VESSELS

We offer both combination germination and kilning vessel (GKV) systems, as well as separate germination and kilning system designs. When germination and kilning take place in the same vessel, the need to handle green malt is eliminated. Each GKV unit comes as a fully automated temperature and humidity-controlled vessel with automated stirring to ensure optimal germination control. Whether a Drum, Saladin box, or Circular Saladin style, the “V-wire” screen floors guarantee good drainage, excellent airflow, and uniform grain bed temperatures.

The Malters Advantage Kiln Air Handler integrates a high-capacity industrial blower, an indirect-fired gas heater, an optional air-to-air heat exchanger, and a full-range recirculation control. Each unit is automatically managed by the integrated process control system.

INTEGRATED PROCESS CONTROL

Our Integrated Process Control system is a UL-Listed, industrial PLC-based setup providing automated control through all the malting phases - steeping, germination, and kilning. With the IPC system, maltsters maintain recipe-based control and can monitor every stage of the malting process. Plus, remote access and control features provide updates and management of the malting process and systems even when you are on the go.
