As mentioned in our last supplier highlight, choosing the right components and equipment is one of the critical steps in the development of Malters Advantage equipment and designs. We consider multiple factors when selecting components. Fit, form, and function of every part are critical to integrating and building a good reliable system. We also consider value for the money and where the components are coming from (i.e. local is good).
In that respect, let me introduce you to NORD Gear Corporation, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of drive technology for mechanical and electronic applications. Why recommend NORD? Let’s consider the criteria I mentioned before but in reverse order this time!
- Location: NORD Gear Corporation is US-based with headquarters in Waunakee, WI, and three additional branch locations in Charlotte, NC, Corona, CA, and McKinney, TX.
- Function: I’m probably going to jinx myself here – but I don’t believe we’ve had a NORD Gearbox or Gearmotor fail us yet! (I can’t believe I just put that in print!?) The units just work that well.
- Form and Fit: Finally, NORD offers a plethora of gearbox and gearmotor designs and combinations that more than meet our equipment needs. Regardless of what we dream up, there is a NORD gear solution available.
The convenience I especially enjoy with NORD is their product selection and configuration options integrated into their website. If you have ever enjoyed the challenge of spending hours on the phone trying to select and source components, you’ll appreciate the user-friendly functionality of their site. Once I have my design criteria in hand, I can quickly search for the gearbox or gearmotor style that I need, select the appropriate size, add the options that we need for the particular application, generate a datasheet, and lastly - one of the features that I absolutely love – generate the 3D CAD drawing for the specified gearmotor or gearbox. We buy all our NORD components through a supply house and all I have to do is send them the data sheet and voila, done!
